The metropolitan Barnabas (Vladimir Viktorovich Kedrov) was born on April 21, 1931 in the village High Ryazansky district of the Ryazan region. 

Biography

1976-1984

In 1976 is determined to be the bishop Cheboksary and Chuvash. In 1984 he was hailed the archbishop.

2001

In 2001 - it is built in a metropolitanate.

2020: Death from COVID-19 coronavirus

On June 1, 2020 one of the oldest bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC), the head of the Chuvash metropolitanate Varnava died of a coronavirus of COVID-19. He was 89 years old.

According to the press service of ROC, was diagnosed for the Metropolitan of Cheboksary and Chuvashia bilateral pneumonia then he was hospitalized in intensive care unit.

In Telegram channel of the working group at the patriarch on a coronavirus  reported that death came because of the complications caused by a koronavirusny infection.

The source of RBC in the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow reported, Barnabas died in the ambulance car moving on MKAD. According to interlocutors of the edition, the ambulance car carried the patient together with hospital attendants of medical aircraft from Vnukovo Airport to city clinical hospital of N.I. Pirogov. The corpse without signs of violent death was sent to judicial  morgue No. 9.

As of June 1, 2020 in Chuvashia 2973 cases of infection of COVID-19 and death from this coronavirus are registered.

Earlier the head of the ROC patriarch Kirill directed all priests to respect sanitary standards. The document, in particular, recommends to priests to abstain from allowing parishioners to kiss to itself a hand.[1]
