Roscosmos called the shortcomings of the Crew Dragon ship

Roscosmos experts call the main shortcomings of the spacecraft company SpaceX. They consider the design of the ship uncomfortable, the placement of engines behind the cabin wall, as well as the lack of a normal toilet.

{{quote 'According to the journal "Russian Cosmos" magazine[1]experts note[2] doubtfulness of finding the crew next to "a couple of tons of toxic fuel components" that are supplied under pressure to the engines of the emergency rescue system. Such a system, according to Russian experts, is by no means safe.

Nitrogen tetraoxide and monomethyl hydrazine are still not water or even hydrogen peroxide.

However, the capacity in Crew Dragon is much higher than in Soyuz, since the company's ship SpaceX designed for 7 astronauts. However, a spacious ship works with a reduced NASA crew of up to four people.

But it is more reliable and cheap than the old American shuttles, the magazine emphasizes. Among other things, there is an inconvenience of the toilet. With each use, it is separated from the rest of the cockpit by a certain screen, as complained by astronauts flying on the shuttle.}}

SpaceX launched the Crew Dragon ship

May 30 at 22 hours 23 minutes Moscow time, the company SpaceX successfully launched the Crew Dragon spacecraft on the ISS using the Falcon 9 launch vehicle. Inside the capsule are two American astronauts. This is the first departure of astronauts inside an American ship in the last decade, and not on the Russian Soyuz. The Falcon 9 rocket successfully broke the sound barrier, after which the first stage was separated. She safely sat on the platform "Of Course I Still Love You." Soon, the second stage was separated and two astronauts were in Earth orbit[3] ?.

After successful completion of the mission, NASA space agency certifies the Falcon 9 rocket and the Crew Dragon spacecraft for manned space missions. Thus, the United States will cease to depend on the Russian Soyuz-FG and Soyuz-2.1A launch vehicles, each launch of which costs at least $35 million. The launch of the Falcon 9 rocket with the Crew Dragon ship costs about $62 million, but they can lift cargo weighing up to 25 tons, while the carrying capacity of Russian vehicles is 8 tons.

Crew Dragon returns to Earth the whole, the volume of its sealed living space is 9.3 m ³, and all this volume is available to the crew. Therefore, seven crew members can be put there. In addition, the new American ship has a payload delivered to the station, in addition to astronauts, it can be several centners.

The characteristics of Crew Dragon are very close to the considered promising Russian "Federation," which was recently renamed "Eagle." Its useful living volume is the same - 9.3 m ³, the crew is limited to four astronauts, and there is also the possibility of returning centners of cargo from orbit.
