The carried-out analysis of "digital readiness" of back office of Burger King Russia allowed to draw a conclusion on need of transformation of management processes some of which were based on technologies of last generation[1].

"From business demand for the modern IT solutions capable increased it is essential to increase efficiency of internal communication — Tsvetkov Maxim Nikolaevich explains. — Meetings of directors of restaurants took place in the mode of telephone conference call, and the presentations and other materials were sent by e-mail. Outdated office automatic telephone exchange did not allow to deploy the new services, as well as legacy system of a video conferencing which upgrade required considerable expenses on acquisition of licenses and updating of the equipment. It was necessary to make the basic decision — to increase own expensive infrastructure and to keep staff of specialists for its support or to pass to use of modern cloud computing".

Meanwhile the staff of the company on own initiative even more often applied free mass messengers to the solution of working questions that is unsafe and in the long term could lead to technology chaos. The company needed to create a single system of communications and joint work which would correspond to modern approaches to the organization of a workplace of employees.


The economy of restaurant network depends on a set of factors — wholesale prices, the cost of lease and utilities, staff expenses and, considerably — on what share in total expenses is the share of back office. Such understanding allowed to develop accurate requirements to the communication solution which would allow to integrate the staff of Burger King Russia within a unified environment of support of team and remote work. And here it was important not to be mistaken with the choice of a basic product — universal, scalable and reliable, capable to work both on traditional computers, and on mobile devices.

As a result IT specialists of the company stopped the choice on Microsoft Teams — the corporate platform with an opportunity to communicate in chats, video and audio conferences, to work jointly with documents, to form working teams, etc.

"It is the convenient tool for communication of employees as with each other, and with external partners, not requiring long studying and mastering. Before a pilot project we had concerns that the new culture of communication will be apprehended by collective not at once. But employees of the company were ready to changes. Many of them bought earphones, wireless headsets and spoke to us: "We are ready!" So soon we began process of mass connection to Microsoft Teams of functional divisions".
