2020: The announcement of a method of production of power payments with hermetic openings

On June 30, 2020 the Russian Space Systems company reported that it developed and patented a method of production of power payments with hermetic openings. The technology will allow to increase the efficiency of the domestic power sources used at assembly of spacecrafts.

Manufacturing techniques of power payments with hermetic openings

According to information, using the technology developed in RKS end-to-end power openings in a very high frequency - and power payments form at the expense of the increased conductivity and melting temperature of materials that increases the heat sink from radioelements and current carrying tracks, allowing to increase the efficiency of power sources.

This method of production will gradually replace the DBC technology applied when forming power payments. With its implementation we achieved tightness and the low resistance of the metallized openings with the conductivity close to conductivity of annealed copper.

Igor Smirnov, the head of the sector of micromechanical systems of RKS told

Hermetic openings form together with conductors metallization up to 100 microns thick, and on a payment there can pass currents up to 20 amperes. Use of our technology allowed to increase the heat sink and to increase the efficiency of power sources by five percent.

Alexander Tevyashov, the leading research engineer of the sector on development of construction of micromechanical systems of RKS told

Implementation in production did not demand equipment procurement – all processes are implemented on available capacities. The technology is already used during creation of power sources, solid-state relays and power amplifiers who will be installed in the unified modules of the space systems.
