2020: The announcement of a sterilizer for smartphones

At the beginning of July, 2020 Samsung released a sterilizer of smartphones on the basis of UF-radiation with wireless charging. The new device in assortment of the South Korean giant received the name Samsung UV Sterilizer.

The pandemic of COVID-19 forced many people to review habits and hygienic rules. Disinfectants became for many permanent satellites, however it is difficult to use them for disinfecting of the equipment, for example, of smartphones and earphones. In that case the UF-sterilizer of production of Samsung which is released in Thailand comes to the rescue.

Externally the UF-sterilizer looks as a white plastic box with a cover in which it is possible to place the smartphone (even such big as Galaxy S20 Ultra), hours, wireless earphones or other rather small things. The device can not only disinfect these devices, but also charge wireless gadgets (10 W) which are compatible to technologies of Samsung.

To use the UF-sterilizer, the user needs just to put the necessary subject inside, to close a cover and to click. The LED indicator of the device shows the status of work and announces completion of disinfection. According to developers, the used UV-radiation allows to destroy up to 99% of microorganisms on all surfaces of the disinfected objects, including that adjoin to a box.

It should be noted that it not the first structure of Samsung with a possibility of UF-disinfection. In March at the first signs of a pandemic of Samsung began to offer services in disinfection of Galaxy devices in some regions, and within a new hygienic initiative even released the special application reminding of regular washing of hands.

As for a new UF-sterilizer of Samsung, its cost in Thailand is 1590 baht (~ $50). So far it is unknown whether the company is going to extend the device in other countries.[1]
