2020: Liquid OTN start

The Huawei company aims to create global solution for optical networks and to cooperate with players of different levels. For this purpose Huawei started the solution Liquid OTN of the next generation which "inherits" possibilities of OTN/WDM hard pipes and defines high degree of granularity of capacity for satisfaction of market demand for narrow-band, qualitative and available dedicated lines. It will increase base of clients from different branches of the economy. Liquid OTN start by the company it was announced in February, 2020.

According to information for July, 2020:

  • The simplified architecture: The "flexible" container OSUflex allows to provide capacity from 2 Mbps instead of traditional 1.25 Gbps (ODU0). Therefore Liquid OTN can adapt practically to all granularities of service, such as SDH, PDH, ETH and storage. Using architecture of switching of Quark, Liquid OTN can replace several technologies of transfer, reducing the taken place by 70% and energy consumption for 50% and also simplifying a network architecture. It provides optimal cost for bit and service quality.
  • Universal completely optical connection: the management of slices on the basis of artificial intelligence technology allows to use channels with capacity of 2 Mbps or its multiple values. Wavelength from 100 Gbps can support 1000 service connections, and one optical fiber can implement 480,000 tough slices, increasing the possible number of service connections by 12.5 times to provide universal optical connection and to create strong optical base for completely connected, intellectual world.
  • Low delay: the technology of color selection of time frames is used for implementation of exact addressing. It simplifies the mepping mechanism, reduces the number of levels of processing, provides the differentiated levels of a delay and lowers indicators of a delay of each section by 70%. Thus, Liquid OTN supports scenarios, sensitive to delays, such as financial transactions, off-line control, intellectual production and collective calculations in data processing centers. The iMaster NCE card provides visualization, controllability, control and a guarantee of a delay, allowing operators to provide service packages of different levels of a delay.
  • Setup of bandwidth without failures: The built-in algorithm supports capacity setup without loss from 2 Mbps to 100 Gbps for satisfaction of different requirements, reduces duration of end-to-end adjustment to 10 seconds and ensures a full-fledged work of network resources. Besides, "pay a business model in process of growth" offers flexibility and the improved bandwidth control, saving the budget of clients, the developer claims.
