DePuy Synthes prolongs cooperation with AO Foundation for the purpose of improvement of educational programs for surgeons

2020: Prolongation of the agreement on cooperation with AO Foundation

On July 7, 2020 it became known that the Johnson&Johnson Medical Devices company announced prolongation for 5 years of cooperation between the division by Synthes and AO Foundation association. AO is the international non-commercial community of surgeons putting the main objectives increase in education level and also development of innovations and researches in the field of treatment of injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal device. Within the updated agreement two independent organizations will continue the collaboration in professional education of doctors and development of medical innovations which began in 1960 for increase in efficiency of treatment of patients.

AO annually holds more than 800 educational events during which about 9.000 own teachers train about 57.000 specialists of health sector. Programs include lectures, practical lessons, interactive discussions in groups and online education. Under the terms of the agreement on cooperation DePuy Synthes will continue to support independent educational programs of AO, reaching thereby important tasks of improvement of professional education of surgeons around the world.

DePuy Synthes will also remain the key industrial partner of technical committee (AO TK) and its international expert committees and groups on such surgical specialties as an injury and correctional surgery of the musculoskeletal device, spinal surgery, craniofacial surgery, veterinary products and also production of the corresponding equipment and implants. Under the leadership of independent experts-surgeons in each of these DePuy Synthes areas will develop surgical technicians, implants and tools for the solution of the most pressing problems of world health care.

In Russia cooperation of DePuy Synthes and AO continues more than 20 years in the following directions - AOTrauma, AOSpine, AORecon, more than 10 educational events in an internal and online format annually are jointly held.
