In July, 2020 start of the Mobian mobile operating system constructed on Linux kernel took place. As specifies the Liliputing edition, it is rather possible to call this project not full Linux distribution kit, but the set of the software allowing to start popular Debian OS on the smartphone or the tablet.

For this purpose developers added the user  interface Phosh  to Debian that the platform resembled the mobile operating system more and also installed  a set of mobile applications  for web browsing, file management, games and communication.

There was OS for smartphones based on Debian Linux

In particular,   the browser of images Eye of Gnome, the system of notes GNOME ToDo, the interface for setup GSMCDMA//are offered LTE UMTS/EVDO/modems ModemManager, the address directory GNOME Contacts, the program of sound recording GNOME Sound Recorder, a configurator of GNOME Control Center, the browser of documents of Evince, the GEdit text editor, the manager of the GNOME Software installation of applications, the monitor program GNOME Usage, the Geary e-mail client, the Fractal messenger (based on the Matrix protocol), a control interface  of Calls calls  (the telephone stack  of oFono is used).

29 widgets covering different standard elements of the interface, such as lists, panels, blocks of editing, buttons, tabs, search forms, dialog boxes, etc. are a part of library. The offered widgets allow to create universal interfaces which organically function both on the PCs large screens and notebooks, and on small touch screens of smartphones.

The applications interface dynamically changes depending on the size of the screen and available input devices. A key project objective is providing an opportunity to work with the same GNOME-applications on smartphones and the PC.[1]
