Content

Musical St. Petersburg is the multivolume encyclopedia published by Kompozitor publishing house (St. Petersburg) since 1999. The encyclopedia prepares generally by forces of staff of the Russian institute of art history. Here for the first time the picture of musical culture of St. Petersburg since 18th century — i.e. since the beginning of history of professional music in Russia is in full provided.

The book the 6th acquaints with instrumental compositions of Anton Ferdinand Tits (the end of XVIII, known in St. Petersburg — the beginning of the 19th century of the German violinist virtuoso and the composer).

Book 7: The overview of references of musical instruments in newspapers

The book the 7th is devoted to the overview of references of musical instruments in the Sanktpeterburgskiye Vedomosti and Sankt-Petersburgische Zeitung" 1728—1780 newspapers.

Thus, the unusual structure of the encyclopedia (for example, a number of volumes on XVIII represent a peculiar annex to "body text" — to an encyclopedic dictionary) comes true singularity of structure of the body of the remained documents. Need of recovery of an overall picture according to incomplete data dictated the idea of the publication as samples: the hand-written collection, hand-written notes, printing notes (the single copies which remained from small circulation); for similar reasons — importance of indirect sources on which it is possible to recover partly an overall picture of musical life — is undertaken the publication of newspaper declarations of sale, purchase, loss, repair of musical instruments, etc.

Books the 10th and 11th represent the encyclopedic dictionary research, devoted to musical St. Petersburg the 19th century (1801 — 1917).

Book 12

Monograph "Musical St. Petersburg the 19th century: pages of the biography" it is executed by group of authors on material of the researches performed by the sector of music of the Russian institute of art history within the project "Musical St. Petersburg. Encyclopedic dictionary. The 19th century. 1801–1861", supported in 2009-2010 by RGNF fund.

In each of articles of the monograph the exclusive materials (archive, memoirs, epistolary, journalese, etc. sources) offering the widest prospects for a research of the St. Petersburg culture within dialog "the European — Russian", and in the field of updating of a phenomenon "the Russian music" are provided.

Volume 13: Materials on the musical culture of St. Petersburg of the first half of the 19th century.

Book "Musical St. Petersburg the 19th century. 1801-1861: Materials to the encyclopedia" (2014) it is executed by group of authors on the basis of the researches performed by the sector of music of the Russian institute of art history within the project "Musical St. Petersburg. Encyclopedic dictionary. The 19th century. 1801-1861", supported in 2009-2010 by RGNF fund. The purpose of authors - to provide to the reader new materials on the history of musical culture of St. Petersburg of the first half of the 19th century: letters, documents, texts of scenic works, reviews and responses from the newspaper and journal periodical press of the 19th century. Some materials are published for the first time, others - earlier published, but having today the status of rarities, - introduced for scientific use with necessary author's comments. For the first time on pages of the book information reflecting a status of piano concert life of St. Petersburg (the 1830th years) and musical theater life of Moscow (1806-1812) is placed. The materials executed in genres of the encyclopedic and research article, in forms of detailed, informatively saturated comments are also included in structure of this edition.

Names of professional performing musicians — harpists, cellists, guitarists, wind players, contrabass players, pianists, violinists, organists, singers and actors (guest performers and musicians of the St. Petersburg theaters), conductors and conductors, composers enter volumes of personal articles as the alphabet; amateur musicians, ballet masters, dancers, theatrical administrators, directors, impresarios, teachers, playwrights, librettists, writers about music, musical critics, specialists in folklore, emperors and members of the imperial house, organizers of circles and owners of salons, patrons, clergymen, instrumental masters, owners of factories of musical instruments, notoizdatel and owners of musical shops.

The chosen chronological frame of the encyclopedia research — 1801-1861: from the beginning of the 19th century before opening of the St. Petersburg conservatory. the 15th volume (personnel: And — B) begins a series of the editions devoted to life and works of the musicians working in St. Petersburg during the studied era.
