VimpelCom buys the equipment of Huawei for 3 billion rubles for network in the Moscow subway

On July 29, 2020 announced VimpelCom purchase of telecommunication equipment of Huawei for start of network at all stations, transitions and tunnels of the Moscow subway. It is about technology of the 5G-ready providing LTE communication with a possibility of start of a 5G networks.
The operator did not open investment into this project. According to Kommersant, it is about the amount of 3 billion rubles which will be spent within three years. By the end of July, 2020 the network of a 5G-ready of VimpelCom is available on 61 of 218 vault stations of the subway of Moscow.
At the first stage of the project VimpelCom is going to provide with a voice communication and the high-speed mobile Internet of passengers of the most loaded lines – Tagansko-Krasnopresnensky, Zamoskvoretsky, Kaluga and Riga, Arbat and Pokrovsk, Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevsky. The passenger traffic of these lines makes nearly 60% of the general traffic of the subway a month. The network will be started by the second stage of a 5G-Ready on other branches of the subway.
As explained in the company, development of network of a 5G-Ready in the capital subway assumes large-scale construction and upgrade of infrastructure of mobile communication using the equipment including supporting standards 5G. It will allow in future ambassador of obtaining all necessary permissions in short terms to start network of new generation in the subway.
The equipment of a 5G-Ready provides communication services provision on technology LTE Advanced and LTE Advanced Pro and also technology of Internet of Things NB-IoT.
Construction of a 5G-Ready of network in the subway – a part of the largest project for all history of the company on development of network Moscow#СуперСити which started in 2018.
