Beltel implemented the solution Fortinet on six platforms "Akvafor" in Russia and Estonia

2020: FortiGate implementation

BELTEL announced on July 30, 2020 implementing solution of Fortinet company on six platforms "Akvafor" in Russia and Estonia for the organization of high-performance and failsafe Internet access, relations between platforms, flexible opportunities for traffic management and solving of tasks of network security.

When choosing the solution for upgrade of WAN of infrastructure such characteristics as compliance to performance requirements and functionality, existence of functionality of SD-WAN, convenience of the user interface and cost were analyzed.

The solution based on the product FortiGate of Fortinet company was as a result selected. After preselection the pilot project which allowed to test the solution in the conditions of real traffic of the enterprise was executed. Upgrade was carried out at the central office "Akvafor" and on marketplace in St. Petersburg, at office of the company in Tallinn and also at the plants in Ust-Izhora, Sillamäe and Narva.

For each FortiGate device the packet of licenses of the UTM level including Application Control, IPS, AntiVirus, Web Filtering and Antispam and FortiSandbox Cloud services is provided. Also at office in St. Petersburg the management system of FortiManager and the system of the centralized collecting and the analysis of the network magazines FortiAnalyzer FAZ-200F is installed.

The equipment is integrated into the existing network. For the organization of failsafe Internet access external channels on each platform are united in uniform logical link using the SD-WAN technology which is built in FortiGate. For each channel it is controlled onto its quality and traffic is distributed according to rules of SD-WAN taking into account the set SLA.

Between all six platforms full-mesh VPN network is created. The dynamic routing providing fast switching of VPN of traffic in case of accident any of channels is configured. Politicians for Internet access and in internal networks for all subnets, rules of a probros of ports for the internal resources available from external networks are configured. The centralized journalizing of all traffic and network events on FortiAnalyzer with the notification of network administrators is also configured by email at emergence of critical incidents.

In a project deliverable we got Internet access, communication between platforms, flexible opportunities for traffic management and access isolation for users, means of inspection of traffic and monitoring of network activity for identification of harmful investments and attempts of network attacks.
