A case was opened against the ex-deputy minister for overpricing in public procurement of medical equipment
In mid-August 2024, it became known about the initiation of a criminal case against the former Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Ingushetia. The basis for this was the identification of his illegal participation in entrepreneurial activities related to public procurement of medical equipment at inflated prices.
The Investigative Committee of Russia initiated an investigation under Article 289 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal participation in entrepreneurial activity"). The investigation found that in 2020, the suspect, holding the post of Deputy Minister of Health of Ingushetia, violated the current legislation by participating in the activities of a commercial organization.
Particular attention is drawn to the fact that the CEO of this company was a close relative of the ex-official. Through this controlled company, purchases of medical equipment for the needs of the republic were carried out for a total of ₽102,5 million.
During the investigation, it turned out that the purchase price of the equipment was significantly overestimated. The difference between the real value and the amount paid from the budget was ₽17 million. It is this amount that is considered by the investigation as damage caused to the budget of the Republic of Ingushetia.
The situation with the former Deputy Minister of Health of Ingushetia is part of a wider trend to combat corruption in public authorities. Similar cases are regularly detected in various regions of Russia, the Лента.ру newspaper notes. [1]
