2020: 6 years of prison for plunder of 700 million rubles from M of Bank

On August 20, 2020 it became known of the pronounced adjudication concerning expected accomplices of the former head of "The Russian credit" and Anatoly Motylev's M-bank. His former assistant Olga Ivanova, the ex-adviser Igor Leonov and the CEO of Brokerskiye i depozitarnye uslugi LLC Stanislav Markeev were recognized guilty of plunder of 700 million rubles of M-bank. Imprisonment for a period of six years and a penalty in the amount of 500 thousand rubles is imposed to them.

According to Kommersant with reference to a sentence, the organizer of crime was Anatoly Motylev living in London, and defendants acted in his interests. In March, 2014 according to Motylev's instructions Olga Ivanova and Igor Leonov provided opening in Russian Credit of accounts of phony companies. Then Stanislav Markeev who submitted to M-Bank the loan application in 700 million rubles was involved in the scheme. Crediting of broker structure was approved, means were credited to the account of Ltd company in M-bank. On this money at Ligalversiya LLC 25 bills of exchange issued by Alicante LLC which were not of value as were written out by the organization, not the leading business activities were purchased.

As it is specified in a sentence, plunder of borrowing facilities of which Motylev disposed was the true purpose of these transactions. Criminal case concerning it is selected in separate production.

The court considered fault of defendants in especially large fraud (Part 4 of Article 159 UK) completely proved. Ivanova and Markeev already stayed in the pre-trial detention center for 4.5 years, Leonov – about 1.5 years. Ivanova, Leonov and Markeev's protection, considering a supporting role of the clients in this case, called a sentence excessively tough.

Allegedly stolen 700 million rubles are so-called technical intra bank loans which of financial structures of Anatoly Motylev did not leave anywhere. Besides, as also the injured party on behalf of the representative of DIA recognized, borrowed funds were provided with pledge — several buildings which the investigation did not work even to estimate — the lawyer Stanislava Markeeva Sergey Starovoytov said to Kommersant.[1]
