Biography

2020: Dismissal from a post of the Minister of Health of Belarus

On August 24, 2020 it was announced Vladimir Karanik's dismissal from a post of the Minister of Health of Belarus. Dmitry Pinevich is appointed the acting as the minister, and Karanik became the governor of the Grodno region.

Vladimir Karanik was in a position of the Minister of Health slightly more than a year. He left the post after it was catcalled by protesters on August 17, 2020. Then health workers left to the building of the Ministry of Health with the requirement to allow doctors to detainees on protests. To the audience there was Karanik, but was catcalled, under shouts Shame and "In resignation" it returned back to the building of the Ministry of Health. Next day the minister published the letter "We are ready to dialog" to protesters in which complained that the conversation on the street did not turn out, RBC notes.

Before heading the Ministry of Health, Dmitry Pinevich held a post of the First Deputy Minister of Health of Belarus. Also he was a Chairman of the Committee on health care of the Minsk Executive Committee of the City Soviet of People's Deputies.

Pinevich supervised activity of head department of medical examination, quality control of delivery of health care, citizens' appeals and legal entities, department of the organization of medical protection at emergencies, managements of the economic analysis and development of health care and also management on licensing.

The president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko noted the "biography pluses" of Pinevich work-related during COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic: quickly understood a situation, "sorted" people, selected clinics for patients, created a stock of beds and ventilators, taught to treat and helped regions. The head of state urged it not to forget also about other diseases – cardiovascular, oncological, etc.

Lukashenko added that to help Pinevich the chairman of the board of the Republic and the president's representative for the city of Minsk Natalya Kochanova who recommended Pinevich as the acting as the Minister of Health will direct the Belarusian Ministry of Health.[1]
