2021: Announcement of protective mask with microphone and speaker

On July 22, 2021, LG Electronics introduced the new PuriCare Wearable protective mask, which is equipped with a built-in microphone and speaker.

According to the manufacturer, the new model, compared to its predecessor, is equipped with lighter and more efficient engines that drive ventilation. The fans automatically adjust the airflow to determine the breathing pattern of the user. This makes human breathing easier and more natural, the press release said.

One of the features of the novelty was VoiceON technology, thanks to which there is no need to raise your voice during a conversation. The system automatically recognizes the beginning of the conversation and, using built-in microphones and speakers, amplifies the person's voice in the mask so that others can hear it.

LG introduced an electronic air purifier worn on the face

The electronic mask PuriCare can be worn for 8 hours, it will take 2 hours to charge it. The device weighs 94 grams and has a built-in battery with a capacity of 1000 mAh.

In a press release, LG does not claim that the company's product is capable of protecting against coronavirus in any way. Although filters are potentially capable of capturing some fine particles, including those the size of a virus, there is no reliable data on the effectiveness of the device in this regard.

The first country to buy PuriCare was Thailand. The cost of the product by July 23, 2021 is not called. The previous version of the mask in Russia can be bought for 18 thousand rubles (data from the official LG website). This model has two built-in inverter fans, HEPA filters and a breath sensor.

The timing of the start of sales of PuriCare Wearable in the Russian market is not called. LG only notes that the appearance of the product in different countries will depend on how quickly local regulators approve it.[1]

In early November 2020, sales of the wearable air purifier LG PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier began. According to the manufacturer, the novelty will be available around the world. First, it can be purchased in the "key countries" of Asia and the Middle East. It is expected that the device will be sold in Russia, but its value on the Russian market by November 5 is not indicated.

The new device supplemented the product line from LG under the brand name PuriCare, which includes home products, solutions for large commercial premises, as well as portable models.

Sales of electronic air purifier worn on the face started

Filters in LG PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier protect the human respiratory system from 99.95% of harmful substances, such as viruses, bacteria and common allergens in the air. This was made possible by the use of dual fans and a patented breathing sensor, which allows easy breathing of clean, filtered air in almost any environmental conditions. The sensor detects the breathing cycle and volume of the user and accordingly automatically adjusts the operation of the three-speed dual fans, increasing the rotation speed during inhalation and slowing it down to reduce the exhalation resistance.

According to LG, the device was developed after a thorough ergonomic analysis of the face to ensure the best fit density. The portable LG PuriCare air cleaner minimizes air leakage through the areas around the nose and chin.

The manufacturer listed the main technical characteristics:

Announcement of LG PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier - Electronic Air Purifier

At the end of August 2020, LG released an electronic air purifier, worn on the face like a medical mask. Device called PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier filters inhaled air and prevents the penetration of bacteria, smoke, dust and other harmful particles into the airway.

The PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier air purifier is equipped with couple three-speed fans and two HEPA H13 filters. Similar filters are used in LG domestic air purifiers.

LG has released an electronic air purifier worn on the face

The built-in respiratory sensor detects the frequency and volume of breathing and on their basis controls the speed of the fan. LG expects people to will wear the mask for several hours in a row, so the battery 820 mAh air purifier is designed for eight hours of operation without additional recharging. For comparison, regular disposable it is recommended to wear the mask no longer than 1-2 hours. Different systems the cleaner is designed so that the user can breathe freely, not paying attention to the mask.

In addition, the mask is equipped with a special storage case, filled with ultraviolet LEDs. While charging, they inner surface of case and mask are disinfected. Cleaner air is also connected to the smartphone and informs the user in advance to replace the filter. LG states that all components air purifier shall be replaced and processed.

The announcement of the novelty is timed to the IFA 2020 exhibition, which will be held in Berlin from September 3 to 5, then the price of the device will be announced. LG representatives do not guarantee that PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier can protect users from COVID-19 infection, but development the purifier was launched in response to the pandemic. According to the company, the device should replace the homemade masks worn by some people.[3]
