On August 31, 2020 the Japanese company NTT Data and medical corporation LSI Medience announced the beginning of testing of the electronic certificates based on technology of a blockchain intended for authentication of tests for COVID-19.
Testing will take place from September 1 to September 18, 2020. In case of success a system will be delivered on commercial rails by the end of 2020.
In process of lifting of restrictions and return of employees to the jobs, the companies have a desire to be convinced that people are healthy. We want to give them an opportunity to possess reliable information, and for this purpose decided to address technology of a blockchain, said in the statement of partners. |
Under the terms of cooperation, LSI Medience will carry out PTsR-tests for existence of COVID-19, and NTT Data will provide the L-AXeS platform by means of which medical institutions and clinical laboratories exchange data.
A system will work as follows. After the employer obliges the employee to carry out the test, the last goes to the nearest hospital where hands over a sample on the analysis. Further this hospital addresses LSI for carrying out the PTsR-test of a sample. After test the company enters result to the L-AXeS platform through which the result is hospitalized where sample was taken. After obtaining result the hospital issues the digital certificate for the employee and the employer.
It is not the first similar project. At the end of August, 2020 similar tests were successfully complete in Switzerland. Like the scheme NTT and LSI, here testing was also held by laboratory network. However the result, the signed blockchain certificate, got poisoned in mobile application of Health n Go in which the user could receive it. So the employer could not know test results.
NTT and LSI stated that their system can lead to disagreements as brings up ethical questions of testing.[1]
