Content

2020: Creation of an automated system of temperature measurement

On September 4, 2020 the Hikvision company announced implementation of technical solution based on the thermovision equipment of Hikvision in the State Novosibirsk Regional Clinical Hospital (SNRCH) for the purpose of creation of an automated system of temperature measurement. The IT Trend company (Novosibirsk) acted as integrator.

Situation on start of the project

Before implementation of technical solution based on the thermovision equipment of Hikvision the procedure of temperature measurement was held in the manual mode using infrared thermometers. However these measures did not suit the customer by several parameters:

  • High labor input. For temperature measurement it was necessary to select separate personnel.
  • Low speed. On each person 5 and more seconds left on average that provoked formation of queues on an input to the building.
  • Low accuracy of measurement. Because of a big flow of people temperature measurement by the IK-thermometer was taken in the accelerated mode that influenced the accuracy of results.

Project Tasks

It was required to build the automated thermovision system for contactless temperature measurement of a big flow of people.

Objects

Solution

Two sets of the equipment: the thermal camera DS-2TD1217B-6/PA and the personal computer about softwares of iVMS-4200 3.2.0.1 set in two different buildings independently of each other.

Project Description

As a basis of an automated system of temperature measurement the dome thermal cameras Hikvision DS-2TD1217B-6/PA were selected. Their key feature is the possibility of temperature measurement at the same time at 30 people with a high accuracy of ±0.5 °C without use of the special calibrator ("a black body"). Cameras are also equipped with the intelligent module of video analytics based on algorithms of deep learning – it gives the chance to take temperature of the person who is in any point of a visibility range of the device at distance up to 3 meters. Using analytics the camera finds a human face in a frame and makes measurement of temperature in a control point on a forehead, ignoring at the same time other warm objects in a frame.

In only two days in hospital set two sets of the equipment which, in addition to the camera, the PC with the software of iVMS-4200 for work of the operator also entered. In the first building the mobile solution was used: the DS-2TD1217B-6/PA thermal imaging camera was mounted on a support at the height of 1.7 meters. For the second building of hospital the stationary option was selected: the camera was mounted on a wall, at the height of 2.5 meters.

The installed system determines body temperature at all visitors at an input to the premises. In case of detection of the raised indicators the operator receives an alarm on the basis of which an additional inspection of the person using the medical equipment is carried out.

Results

Thanks to the complete thermovision solution based on Hikvision equipment on objects of GNOKB it was succeeded to solve a problem of queues on an input. Temperature of each person is taken in completely automatic mode and the non-contact method which ensures additional safety of personnel of hospital and also visitors.

The project was implemented in two days, but only because at the time of installation tight restrictions because of a pandemic worked.
