Customers: Walmart

Bentonville; Trade

Contractors: Flytrex Aviation

Project date: 2020/09

At the beginning of September, 2020 Walmart started the product delivery and household goods using drones. The automated drones are created by the Israeli startup of Flytrex Aviation and distance about 10 km with loads up to 3 kg can fly by. They fly up from the airfield near shop.

The pilot project began in Feyetvilla, the State of North Carolina, but if results are successful, the program will be adapted also for other territories. Thus Walmart tries to resist to Amazon Prime service. Drones help to reduce contact probability between clients and couriers that does them by more and more popular option for business during a pandemic.

So far advantage remains for Amazon as in August it became one of the few firms certified by the U.S. Government for work as dronovy airline. The certificate allows Amazon to begin the first commercial deliveries to the USA, using hi-tech Flytrex drones. They are included into the pilot program of integration of unmanned aerial vehicles of the Federal Aviation Administration which is directed to merger of companies of the private sector, the governments of states and local authorities for testing of operation of drones.

We know - there will pass a little time, and millions of sendings will be delivered using drones, - the senior vice president of Walmart for client software programs Tom Ward noted in the blog. - So far all this still seems to us science fiction, but all of us expand methods of use of new technologies more.
