2020: The announcement of a production system of gas for MRT Polarean

In the middle of September, 2020 the Polarean Imaging company provided the equipment for production of the hyper polarized gas which strengthens the MRT-signal by 100,000 times. The technology should help doctors quicker and more precisely diagnose respiratory diseases, especially during the proceeding COVID-19 pandemic.

The device for gas production which inhalation strengthens the MRT-signal in 100 thousand times is released

Polarean offers the equipment for production so-called hyper polarized 129 xenon or helium. The patient should inhale the hyper polarized gas before MRT-scanning which lasts 10-20 seconds. The signal strengthened by gas provides noninvasive studying of structures of lungs with unprecedented detailing. For example, it is possible to define lung sections with bad ventilation and to quantitatively estimate the volume of the ventilated space in lungs. Actually, such measurements allow doctors to visualize not only structure, but also function of lungs.

Usually MRT is seldom used for assessment of respiratory diseases as air weakens a signal, however in combination with the MRT Polarean device can become the key tool in assessment of respiratory diseases. A new system in the hyper polarized contrast gas allows to visualize ventilation to endpoints of airways and to carry out the regional assessment of gas exchange and function of lungs for one scanning with a breath delay. At the same time the patient is not exposed to ionizing radiation exposure, unlike procedures of x-ray emission or a computer tomography.

Polarean offers the combined products in the form of a polarizer of HPX and the device for exhalation of the polarized gas which represents a disposable packet with a mouthpiece. A system can be used for diagnosis of any diseases of lungs, including asthma, mukovistsidoz, HOBL, interstitial diseases of lungs and a disease of vessels of lungs.[1]
