CRP

Capacity Requirements Planning (CPR) - Capacity Planning. An information system that is part of larger MRP systems. The purpose of the CRP system is to check the feasibility of a given schedule of work in terms of the available equipment and capabilities, and if the requirements are adequate and it is possible to fulfill the task on time, optimize and correctly distribute the load on the existing production resources.

Content

During the CRP system, a capacity allocation plan is developed to process each specific production cycle during the planned period. The process plan for the sequence of production procedures is also established and, according to the trial production program, the loading rate of each production unit for the planning period is determined. If, after a cycle of CRP module operation, the program is not considered feasible, changes are made to it and it is re-tested using CRP module.

In the CRP algorithm, two stages can be conditionally distinguished. This is an idea of preliminary and final planning:

  • RCCP (Rough-Cut Capacity Planning). Preliminary planning of production capacities. The procedure for checking several key resources quickly enough to see if there is enough capacity to execute the master production plan.
  • FCRP (Finite Capacity Resource Planning). Final capacity planning. Even if RCCP can indicate that there is enough capacity to execute the production plan, FCRP can show that these capacities are deficient at certain times.

The CRP system informs about all discrepancies between the planned load and the available capacity, allowing you to take the necessary regulatory actions. At the same time, each manufactured product is assigned a corresponding technological route with a description of the resources required at each of its operations, at each work center. During the CRP module operation, a production capacity allocation plan is developed for each specific product. The production trial program determines the loading rate of each production unit in the planned time period. If, after the CRP module runs, the production program is considered feasible, it becomes the main one for the MRP module. In another case, changes are made to it, and it is re-evaluated using the CRP module. CRP does not perform load optimization, performing only calculation functions according to a predetermined production program, simulates a given production system.
