2020: Carrying out the air on 5G network

PJSC MTS showed in Vladivostok streaming in air of federal TV channel State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company "Vladivostok" by means of a communication network of fifth generation, using the equipment of the supplier of telecommunication solutions of Huawei. Broadcasting was conducted with the territory of Far Eastern Federal University where MTS opened pilot zone 5G. It became known on October 2, 2020.

Forward translation of a ceremony of start of 5G network of MTS was conducted on air of Vladivostok State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company TV channel within 30 minutes. For signal transmission MTS used engineering development from Huawei — a backpack with the built-in modems 5G allowing to transfer to television air the image in real time. Speed of downloading given when conducting testing in an area of coverage of a 5G reached 1.3 Gbps that is unattainable in mobile networks of the previous generation and the operating city networks Wi-fi. The reached parameters allow to transfer high-quality video directly to studio of any broadcasting TV channel in format 4K with the minimum delays.

Technologies 5G are essentially other opportunities for usual to us services, revolution in the digital world. The solution which we showed allows in a message 5G network coverage the air from the place of an event with a possibility of relocation of operator in the absence of any cable infrastructure and the bulky equipment. Networks of fifth generation are not just very high speeds and the supersharp image, it is an opportunity to implement the most large-scale projects and hi-tech developments. Forward translation in air of the federal channel became evident demonstration of opportunities of practical use of 5G network — the vice president of MTS for regional development Igor Egorov emphasized.

State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company is federal media network therefore we in practice tested possibilities of 5G network. This engineering development will help to facilitate work of journalists and operators during large-scale actions, including the international level — economic and political forums, sports meets and concerts — the director of State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company Vladivostok Svetlana Ogneva noted.

5G network of MTS in Vladivostok became the first in the Far East of Russia. The pilot zone is unrolled using the equipment of Huawei in the range of 4.9 GHz and provides with an indoor-signal the territory of body A in Far Eastern Federal University^[1].
