Salesforce.com and VMware companies started a new cloud service of VMforce for development of corporate Java applications. Service integrates in itself the Java programming language, Java framework Spring and the VMware vSphere virtualization platform started on a cloud platform of Force.com.

As envisioned by developers, VMforce will open the road to "clouds" for six million developer companies of Java applications, including two million users of a framework of Spring supported by SpringSource company which since recent time is a part of VMware. Heads and IT specialists will have an opportunity to connect own experience and knowledge of Java applications to opportunities of the industry Force.com platform for application development of Cloud 2 which can be started on mobile devices in real time.

VMforce is founded on global infrastructure of Salesforce.com and conforms to industry standards of security: ISO 27001, SysTrust and SAS70 Type II. VMforce will support simple Java objects POJO, server pages of Java (JSP), Java Servlets and other codes which enter Spring framework. The companies will be able to move applications to VMforce and back, developing Java applications based on Spring.

The VMforce applications can automatically be scaled. This opportunity is given automatically as service. As a result clients will not need to worry about increase in capacities of application servers, databases or infrastructures.

To clients the finished solution for development of Java applications in "cloud" which contains infrastructure, the virtualization platform, technology of setup and management of applications, relational cloud databases, the platform for development and integration of services, tools and another is proposed.

VMforce uses Spring Framework - the framework allowing to create modern Java applications. Besides, VMforce includes SpringSource Tool Suite, the complex certified development environment having extensive tool kit based on the open Eclipse platform. The VMforce applications will be run on SpringSource tc Server, the industrial version of Apache Tomcat optimized under virtual and cloud environments.

Developers during creation of the applications will be able to seize the opportunities of collective work of Chatter (including profiles, updates of the statuses of users and applications, joint work opportunities over documents, file sharing).

Developers will be able to embed in the applications such preconfigured Force.com services as search, security and identification of users, document flow, the reporting and analytics. The Force.com database has such advantages as automatic scaling, high availability, autotune, backup and recovery after failures.

The VMware vCloud technology automatically manages a program stack which supports applications of VMforce, exempting developers from difficult and expensive software management and the equipment. The VMware VCloud technology enters Java applications into a cloud, automates process of application integration with the Force.com database and manages the vSphere virtualization platform.

The main for VMforce will become the VMware vSphere virtualization platform. VMforce also uses global infrastructure for cloud computing of Force.com which daily executes about 250 million transactions for more than 72500 clients.

According to Marc Benioff, the chairman of the board of directors and the chief executive of Salesforce.com, consolidation of cloud computing, joint work in real time and a possibility of use of mobile devices, for example iPad, meet requirements of corporate customers. VMforce will expand "cloud" service Force.com with Java opportunities.

According to Paul Marits, the chief executive and the president of VMware, to clients the solutions combining advantages of cloud computing and allowing to use the existing resources, experience and infrastructure are required. VMforce gives an opportunity to integrate internal IT resources of the companies with opportunities of clouds.

VMforce will be previously available to developers in 2010. The cost of use of a resource it will be announced in addition.
