2020: Automation of internal audit

On October 13, 2020 SAP CIS announced that Norilsk Nickel automated internal audit based on the SAP solution Audit Management. Due to use of a single system the company increased efficiency of carrying out audit procedures and reduced terms by preparation of the analytical reporting. The PwC company (PricewaterhouseCoopers) acted as the partner of implementation .

Tasks of department of internal audit in Norilsk Nickel is conducting objective and independent checks during which the efficiency of internal control systems and risk management is estimated. On the basis of the carried-out inspections reports and suggestions for improvement of procedures of internal control prepare, continuous control and monitoring of plan development of actions for elimination of violations is exercised.

The single system in which it is possible to plan and book audit was as a result created, to fix the status of checks and the revealed shortcomings. In addition, in a system it is possible to create analytical reports, to control execution of recommendations and also to store all necessary documents.

At the time of start of the digital project in the company there was no uniform data warehouse on audits and monitoring of execution of recommendations and also information on the status of accomplishment of audits and the annual plan of works of department.

Using SAP Audit Management in the company the uniform working tool for internal auditors was created, compliance of processes of the company on internal audit is provided to international standards. After implementation at the main office we plan system circulation in branches and societies of a corporate structure, - Natalya Gololobova, the director of the department of internal audit of Norilsk Nickel commented.

From the technical point of view this system in Norilsk Nickel is constructed using several digital solutions – the main IT SAP product Audit Management and the SAP BW on HANA platform used for formation of the analytical reporting.

SAP implementation of Audit Management in Norilsk Nickel became the Russia's second and first in the mining and metallurgical industry.
