2020: Start of sales of Aesculap Aeos - a digital microscope robot for surgeons
In the middle of October, 2020 the robotic digital microscope of Aesculap Aeos of production of True Digital Surgery and Aesculap companies went on sale. A system consists of the robotic manipulator and digital displays and, according to developers, allows surgeons to achieve better visualization and higher contrast, than when using standard optical microscopes.
Aesculap Aeos includes software for digital three-dimensional visualization and the configured display modes of data which allow the surgeon to consider carefully interesting fabric or structure, distinguishing dark and light parts at the same time. Function of 10-fold optical increase and fluorescent illumination also help at visualization during surgery.
A system is supplied 3D - the video display with the resolution of 4K which at the height of a pandemic provides protection of surgeons as all employees of the operating room can consider the image at the same time, without removing SIZ. The display also reduces ergonomic load of the surgeon, eliminating need to bend to eyepieces. Aeos integrates a digital microscope, fluorescent visualization, the robotic manipulator with six degrees of freedom and several means of remote control.
The robotic algorithms including presets of location allow to move automatically the camera to the preset places and back. The Lock-to-Target function allows to regulate manually microscope provision, saving focusing on the interesting surgical point. Surgeons can also combine three-dimensional images from a surface and invisible a naked eye of structure, using enhanced capabilities of fluorescent visualization of Aeos.[1]
