2020: Resignation from a position of the president of Kyrgyzstan

On October 15, 2020 the president of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Zheenbekov announced resignation after three years of the management of the republic.

For me the world in Kyrgyzstan, integrity of the country, unity of our people and tranquility in society above all. There is nothing more expensively for me life of each my compatriot. I do not hold the power. I do not want to remain in the history of Kyrgyzstan as the president who shed blood and shooting at own citizens — Zheenbekov said, explaining the leaving.

He also urged the prime minister Sadyr Zhaparov and other politicians "take away the supporters from the capital of the country and return peaceful life" to residents of the capital.

The social and political situation in the capital of our country Bishkek remains intense. Unfortunately, aggression does not cease, the requirement of my immediate resignation proceeds. The current situation is close to the bilateral conflict — Zheenbekov explained.

Protests against results of parliamentary elections began in Kyrgyzstan on October 5, 2020. The president Zheenbekov said that protests and disorders are attempt of seizure of power. On October 6 the Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan recognized results of elections illegitimate and announced the declaration of new date of elections within two weeks. On October 9 Zheenbekov dismissed the prime minister and the government and also imposed state of emergency in Bishkek and charged to send troops in the capital.

In the morning on October 15, 2020 near the residence of the president "Ala-Archa" which is in the south of Bishkek about 1 thousand protesters gathered. They connected the equipment and began a meeting with the requirement to the president to resign authority. Also they chanted Sadyr — a name of the prime minister Sadyr Zhaparov appointed on Wednesday. Along with it at the building of the residence the column of cars of security officers was built.[1]
