2020: Start of a monitoring system and diagnostics of the rolling mill

In rail and structural workshop "Evraz of ZSMK" the monitoring system and diagnostics of the rolling mill is brought into commercial operation. It is one of projects of digital transformation which are implemented at plant.

A system controls operability of the main units, regulators and sensors draft and fair groups of cages of a camp and warns possible deviations from the set operation modes. It helps metallurgists to make timely necessary repairs, to avoid idle times and as a result – production losses.

The monitoring system and diagnostics represents the software and hardware complex consisting their two servers, the equipment of the communications and video conference integrated into the existing automatic management system by technology processes (APCS) of a camp of hot rolling.

Using base of expert knowledge, analysis results of incidents and also more than two thousand parameters specialists developed about three hundred criteria of operability of the equipment. On their basis daily status reports on the equipment of a camp form. Any authorized user can see information from the corporate computer. It is especially useful to repair personnel of workshop. On the basis of data retrieveds works which need to be executed during weekly scheduled preventive maintenance are planned.

A system is capable to establish the root reasons of breakdowns. So, in case of any incident it is possible to bring to the monitor of the operator parameters of the necessary node, its video image at the time of the incident and to analyze the event reasons. All parameters are synchronized.

This information system was implemented by specialists of Evraztekhnika and workers of rail production "Evraz of ZSMK" together with Fest company (Lipetsk). Specialists of plant studied experience of the Lipetsk colleagues and adapted it for own production.

Evraz systemically was engaged in digital transformation in 2017. By October, 2020 amount of data, the production company assets which are saved up in the course of automation, became sufficient to use the Big Data methods for increase in efficiency of technology processes and growth of safety of production. The company stopped on five priority technologies: the advanced analytics (AA), expert systems, mobile solutions, paperless document flow and the video analyst Tsifrovization^[1].
