2020: The announcement of a robotizirovannyy catheter for treatment of heart disease of Moray Clipper TEER

At the end of October, 2020 it became known that the Californian company Moray Medical developed a robotic catheter for treatment of heart disease and also provided a number of technologies for simplification of work of the heart surgeon, including AR programs and the digital three-dimensional interface.

Now insufficiency of a mitralny heart valve is adjusted during invasive surgery or the transkateterny procedure under the name Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair (TEER). Instead of perforation of a wall of heart the implant of TEER is carried out to the heart camera on the end of a flexible rod of a catheter. Using ultrasonic and roentgenoscopic images, the cardiologist sets an implant on shutters of the mitralny valve. Results of a research of 2018 and data of nearly 15000 patents showed that TEER reduces the frequency of complications and sudden death and also improves quality of life.

However in complex cases or when carrying out by inexperienced clinical physicians transaction can result in non-optimal results. To solve this problem, the Moray Medical company developed a robotic catheter. According to developers, a new system allows to digitalize all data necessary for the heart surgeon that will allow it "manage a catheter in fragile heart as easily how to move the cursor on the computer screen".

The implant of Moray Clipper TEER is fixed on the end of a disposable catheter and moves ahead to heart using standard intervention methods. As soon as the implant of Clipper is introduced into the heart camera adjoining on the mitralny valve, the heart surgeon attaches the catheter handle to the liquid Moray Coral drive. After that the heart surgeon will manage the movement of a catheter and implant only in digital interactive medium of Moray's Submersion, and in reply the Moray Coral drive will change provision and orientation of an implant, facilitating its combination with valve fabrics. It will allow the heart surgeon to focus on nuances of haemo dynamics and anatomic features of the patient.[1]
