Sibur the first in Russia implemented the system of digital modeling in petrochemical production

On November 5, 2020 "Sibur" announced that the company of the first in Russia implemented the system of digital modeling in petrochemical production. The pilot project is started on affiliated enterprise — on "Tomskneftekhim".

It is about the technology allowing to model with a high accuracy physical and chemical processes on petrochemical production. In a case with Tomskneftekhim the digital model of the reactor of polyethylene of high pressure allowed to optimize considerably operating costs by its production.

In total on digital model of the Tomsk installation 139 combinations of different operation parameters of the equipment, a consumption of raw materials and initiators of reaction were tested. The optimal mode allowing to reduce a specific consumption of expensive additives on 12% without product quality loss was as a result defined. Projection of the expected economy in enterprise scales makes 50-60 million rubles a year.

The model is unique for each installation, but successful experience of a pilot project in Tomsk allows to plan development of digital models and for other productions of Sibur, including large-capacity, the head of the Research and development Function Sergey Tutov says. In the long term the digital model can be used at determination of parameters of maintaining the mode for new brands of products.

Besides, the plants of Sibur of different age, some productions were started last century, the Tomsk reactor, for example — in 1993. Digital models allow them to approach world benchmarks in the field of petrochemistry without deep reconstruction — he said.

Sibur develops technology modeling more than five years, the specialized scientific center of NIOST company in Tomsk became the development center. In the same place there undergo additional training technologists of the enterprises of the company.^[1]
