2020: IX SN530 Presentation
On November 9, 2020, the company Western Digital announced the release of several new SSD NVMe-supported storage devices created for use in data storage and processing architectures in the DPC industrial, IoT automotive applications and customer classes. The family includes an SSD with support for zonal namespace (ZNS) and NVMe, which will help design a more productive storage tier in data centers with competitive total cost of ownership (TCO); The Industrial Class IX SN530 SSD from Western Digital for use in extreme application loads that help solve technical problems related to various industries, including the automotive industry; WD Blue SN550 and a 2 TB SSD with NVMe support to improve performance. According to IDC, over the next three years, humanity will create more data than in the past thirty years. Billions of connected systems generate countless sets of contextualized data from video surveillance to the user and sensor information that needs to be received, converted and analyzed, and then these data and information will begin to be of value to various industries, companies and individual users. Older versions of architectures no longer keep pace with modern data volumes and cannot function in appropriate environments. The challenge is to build a data storage and processing infrastructure that, on the one hand, is efficient and cost-effective and, on the other, can meet the growing information needs of the zettabyte era. Storage is a critical and fundamental component for creating such new architectures and extracting valuable information from data.
The IX SN530 from Western Digital is an industrial-grade SSD drive with NVMe support, designed for extreme temperature, performance, strength and reliability requirements that often occur in the automotive industry and other industries. Thanks to a wide range of operating temperatures - from -40 ° C to + 85 ° C - and maintaining serviceability in vibration acceleration conditions up to 20g, the IX SSD-drive SN530 with NVMe is ideal for use in production automation systems, transport industry, medical equipment, robotics, drones, defense industry, retail, as well as in other difficult conditions. With a read speed of up to 2,400 MB/s, this high-performance solution can be used by equipment manufacturers developing applications or decommissioning SSD drives on SATA. Available in compact M.2 2230 or M.2 2280 form factors from 85 GB to 2 TB. Currently, the IX SN530 TLC line is shipped in test mode. SLC modifications will be available in January 2021.
