2020: Start of transfer of IT infrastructures of authorities to Astra Linux Special Edition

On November 11, 2020 the Astra Linux company announced TAdviser that in the Ivanovo region transfer of IT infrastructures of 26 executive authorities to operating systems of the Astra Linux family and other domestic software products started. The project is initiated by Development department of information society of the Ivanovo region with assistance of the Government of the region.

For November, 2020 process is at the initial stage: the operating system which will become the platform for import substitution is selected, the sequence of steps in transfer of IT systems of authorities on her is defined, the key moments to which it is necessary to pay attention are designated and also the list of the tools necessary for high-quality project implementation is created. It is planned that migration will be built so that in a work progress correct functioning of software was ensured, and the personnel could execute the duties in full.

The choice of the operating system of a line of Astra Linux was defined by several factors among which there is an availability, security and simplicity of mastering, acting as head of the department of development of information society of the Ivanovo region Mikhail Khokhlov.

Between Astra Linux Group and Development department of information society of the Ivanovo region the agreement on cooperation according to which the vendor will render to executive bodies of the government full consulting support upon transition to domestic OS is signed. The draft agreement included 26 authorities which shortly will begin implementation of the Astra Linux operating system in the infrastructures for their subsequent complete equipment with the Russian software.

The complexity of the project is in setup of correct interaction of the updated IT systems with those solutions that already is at customers, and with all resources with which users work. Many legacy software and hardware products, as well as a number of information systems, were initially created for application only in the environment of Windows OS. To provide full functioning of infrastructures under control of Astra Linux, it is necessary to pick up compatible domestic analogs of products and to train users and administrators in work with them.

In infrastructures of executive authorities of the region the UTs of the Pro company which experts locate considerable experience in the field of information technologies is engaged in implementation of operating systems of Astra Linux and provide a range of IT services. Among them complex services, products and solutions on data protection, carrying out evaluation tests of information systems (according to requirements of FSTEC), services of Certification Center. Besides, with assistance of "UTs of the Pro" based on the Ivanovo state university the authorized Astra Linux education center is open. Forces of its teachers provide personnel training of IOGV of the region to application of domestic OS. The wide line of rates both for users, and for administrators of different levels, including specialists in the field of virtualization and network administration is provided. The authorized training will help to accelerate and simplify process of adaptation of employees to software products, and further will give them the chance to independently support smooth operation of the IT systems.
