2020: An extradition from Spain to Russia

On November 12, 2020 it became known of an extradition from Spain of Russian Alexey Yeliseyev who is accused of large scale fraud (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

According to the investigation, Alexey Yeliseyev as a part of organized group stole more than 4.76 billion rubles at three organizations — "Standard project", Construction Resource and "Standard research" — and transferred money to Spain.

It is reported, Yeliseyev from September, 2010 to December of the 2016th in St. Petersburg developed the criminal plan for plunder of money of a compensation fund of self-regulatory organizations  through JSC UK Nord-Vest Capital. He performed management and supervised activity of the company through other participant of criminal group.

As reported on the website of the State Office of Public Prosecutor of the Russian Federation, being a financier and having work experience in credit institution, Alexey Yeliseyev was responsible for financial postings on the movement of the stolen money, including on their output abroad. And also coordinated opening in different credit institutions of checking accounts of the organizations registered on figureheads.

Along with Yeliseyev, Spain extradited Egidijus Tatarunas who is suspected of attempt at sale of drugs to Russia. Law enforcement authorities believe that it packed up large batches of heroin, cocaine and amphetamine for further sale which could not perform because of work of police.

Thanks to actions of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, organized close interaction with competent authorities of the Kingdom of Spain it was succeeded to achieve extradition of the accused to the Russian Federation — it is specified in the message of supervising department.

Both persons involved disappeared from law enforcement agencies and were put on the wanted list. Accompanied by employees FPS Russia and the Russian bureau  of the Interpol  Egidijus Tatarunas and Alexey Yeliseyev will be brought to  Moscow.[1]
