2020: The announcement of AutoML Entity Extraction - the platform allowing to create without knowledge of programming search engines according to medical documents

In the middle of November, 2020 Google provided tool kit, using natural languag processing which should facilitate to health workers the analysis of medical documents. This platform allows to make without knowledge of programming search engines on the available documentation and to quickly find the necessary information.

Google provided two AI tools which will help doctors. Healthcare Natural Language API will be able to select from the unstructured text important information, for example, on last vaccination or the accompanying therapy, and the AutoML Entity Extraction tool will simplify creation of searchers for extraction of necessary clinical information from medical documentation.

The purpose of these tools - to simplify search of important information which can be absent in specially selected fields of the medical record. For example, information on abuse of psychoactive substances or on physical activity of the patient often occurs in the unstructured text of medical cards.

This tool processes a natural language and finds clinically significant attributes taking into account a context, - the product manager of Google Cloud Andreea Bodnari explained. New tools are capable to distinguish earlier written out recipes from fresh and also distinguish information on the patient and data on his relatives.

The technology can be also used in other contexts. For example, it can be applied at selection of patients to clinical trial by certain criteria of inclusion and an exception. Besides, new tools can process the records received during telemedicine acceptance and find in them the appointed drugs or symptoms.

Google reported that some large hospitals already began to use these technologies.[1]
