Jaguar Land Rover creates the smart urban environment for testing of pilotless cars

In the middle of November, 2020 announced Jaguar Land Rover creation of the smart urban environment for testing of unmanned vehicles. The car maker implements this project together with the Future Mobility Campus Ireland (FMCI) company specializing in construction of platforms for testing of the autonomous and connected to a wireless network vehicles.

The new zone for testing of robomobiles will be located in Ireland. He will turn on 12 km of the public roads equipped with modern sensors and telecommunication systems to model different road situations and to test new technologies. The electric Jaguar I-PACE crossover will be involved in researches.

In the territory the smart outcomes, roads connected to data exchange systems, the parking for autonomous vehicles and a charging station are also located. The road network of FMCI is coherent with 450-kilometer section of the high-speed motorway going from the airport Shannon along the mouth of the river with the name of the same name and is controlled by unmanned aerial vehicles.

It is supposed that the new project will help Jaguar Land Rover to develop in the field of the autonomous, far off connected, completely electric and shared vehicles. It is an important part of strategy of the company directed to making society healthier and safe due to implementation of advanced technologies.

Within this project Jaguar Land Rover is the leading partner of Future Mobility Campus Ireland. Also cooperation with Cisco, Seagate, Renovo, Red Hat, Mergon was begun. The FMCI company provided Jaguar Land Rover with a test polygon which is near the development center of the software of car maker located in the Irish Shannon.[1]
