2020: Tests of a mobile radio complex of underwater communication of IVA S/W

Fighting swimmers of special purpose military unit of the VTR together with engineers of IVA Technologies tested a mobile radio complex of underwater communication of IVA S/W in the water area of the Barents Sea. Announced this IVA Technologies on November 17, 2020. During approbation by group of divers the stable voice communication of high definition at the range up to 2000 meters was established.

The first version of mobile radio station of wireless underwater communication was submitted in 2018. The operation principle of the device developed by engineers of IVA Technologies (enters into Haytek Group), differs from the technologies which are the cornerstone of the hydrospeaker systems used by the VTR. In the IVA S/W radio complex initially in a tandem with the "traditional" hydroacoustic antenna the technologies which are based on the principle of distribution of electromagnetic waves were applied. This principle is deprived of the shortcomings inherent in hydrospeaker systems of communication, and does not depend on a hydrology of the environment of distribution, presence of a suspension, seaweed, a thermowedge and other not uniformity that is especially relevant when working in the contaminated water environment and also in the conditions of strong hydroacoustic noises (including in a coastal zone). The feature of the device also is that it provides communication of divers with a surface through limit of the section of environments (air/water) without immersion of components on water Wednesday even if the ice cover acts as limit of the section of environments that is very relevant at accomplishment of tasks in the conditions of Far North or on the reservoir covered with ice.

In the water area of the Barents Sea the latest version of a mobile radio complex passed tests. The upgraded device has the improved characteristics on the range and communication quality (including between Wednesdays), depth of immersion and is adapted for use with the most widespread full-front diving masks and headsets of communication. The radio complex is placed on an aqualung of the diver and does not create noises at the movement in water.

Tests took place in the water area of the Barents Sea at water temperature only 6 degrees for conditions: "water-water", "air-water" and "water-air". During tests by group of divers the stable voice communication of high definition in the thickness of water at a depth up to 26 meters and range up to 2000 meters was established that is a peculiar record as similar range is not shown by any of the systems used by the VTR. Thus the mobile IVA S/W radio complex repeatedly exceeded the devices of wireless communication used now on many characteristics, including the range of communication and legibility of the speech.

Tests of the upgraded mobile IVA S/W radio complex allowed to check its working capacity and communication quality in actual practice. Where there are undercurrents, there is a natural nervousness of water and also change of its temperature depending on immersion depth is observed, – Sergey Chernykh, the vice-chairman of Board of Directors of Haytek Group noted. – Existence of such factors can affect very strongly operability of the device, but it did not occur, and the complex developed by us passed all tests. Our radio complex was developed less than in three years and, including according to divers of the VTR, exceeds the communication devices which are available for them on the range and communication quality. As a result, staff of military unit and also representatives of command of the Northern Fleet, having estimated results of tests, expressed readiness to use the solution IVA Technologies.
