2020: Announcement of Nokia 25G PON

On November 19, 2020 the Nokia company announced the fiber-optical broadband solution of 25 Gbps Symmetrical PON. This solution works at the existing hardware platforms of the next generation of Nokia for PON networks, such as nodes of access and line cards.

According to the company, this solution is based on a chipset of Quillion Nokia and the existing platform of access of the next generation and line cards. The broad capacity and a low delay (implemented using a specialized chipset of Quillion) mean that this solution is capable to support both mobile transport 5G and corporate services 10G for the enterprises.

All users of Nokia having payments of 10 Gbps based on the Quillion chip will have an opportunity to work at speeds of 25 Gbps in the networks. The solution Nokia 25G PON can coexist with solutions GPON and XGS-PON in the same infrastructure that allows operators to implement services of 25 Gbps without affecting the existing services.
