Atos provided to Norilsk Nickel the BullSequana S platform for SAP implementation

2020: Installation of the BullSequana S server

Atos, the company in the field of digital transformation, provided "To Norilsk Nickel", to the mining and metallurgical company Russia and one of producers of nickel and palladium in the world, server BullSequana S based on processors Intel Xeon P8276 for system implementation SAP HANA. It became known on November 26, 2020.

The complete solution Atos allows the company to accept business solutions in real time, and its modular architecture gives an opportunity of fast scaling for satisfaction of future business needs, at the same time providing economy of means.

Since 2017 Atos provides to Norilsk Nickel infrastructure solutions for operation of applications of a SAP landscape. So, earlier the company already delivered to the customer two rack Bullion S8 servers for expansion of computing powers. After achievement of their limits Norilsk Nickel had an additional requirement for updating of IT infrastructure. In particular, for project implementation on development of IT solutions for different industries based on SAP HANA. The company selected Atos as integrator of a system and also vendor of the server hardware.

As a result of replication and job enrichment which are solved in SAP ERP the need for accumulation of additional capacities appeared. At the same time it was important to implement the project in the most flexible type, having provided thereby vertical scaling. The Atos server has a modular solution architecture thanks to what the volume of its OZU can reach 24 TB. In comparison with offers of other companies, this solution was the most profitable and optimal. Also it is completely certified by SAP company that is undoubted plus — Liana Ermishina, the director of the department of information technologies of Norilsk Nickel commented.

For solving of tasks of the customer Atos proposed the complete solution based on the BullSequana S800 server equipped processors Intel with Xeon Platinum of the second generation. The BullSequana S servers support the memory protection functions necessary for crucial and complex systems. Also this solution has uninterrupted performance. Transition of a system to this server came to the end in September, 2020. Atos will give technical support within three years.

This time we proposed to the customer the solution certified in the Appliance mode for providing required performance measures and reliability that helped to reduce terms of integration of the SAP platform. As a result of implementation of BullSequana S for SAP HANA, the platform showing flexibility and good scalability, the client uses technologies which provide it protection of means when scaling — Roman Gots, the director of the department of Big Data and security of Atos in Russia added.
