2020: Comprehensive Platform Upgrade for Ericsson Cloud Backbone IoT

On December 2, 2020, Tele2 announced that it had carried out a comprehensive upgrade of the platform for the Internet of Things (IoT) based on the Ericsson cloud backbone. This will allow you to create dedicated network segments for NB-IoT with a minimum additional load on the commercial network, simultaneously connect 1 million IoT devices and offer updated functionality to corporate users.

According to the company, during the modernization project, Tele2 and Ericsson focused on creating a dedicated turnkey network segment that ensures a minimum dependence of the NB-IoT layer on the existing network. This autonomy helps to avoid loading commercial nodes of the home network and to more flexibly configure the service component for users. The updated platform will allow you to provide services in Non-IP Data Delivery (NIDD) mode, that is, transfer data through the signaling channels of the network without allocating separate IP addresses and avoid additional load on the network.
