The ministry of natural resources of Zabaykalsky Krai is the executive body of the government of Zabaykalsky Krai performing functions on acceptance of regulatory legal acts, control and supervision within the set powers, function on rendering public services and also the powers delegated to the Russian Federation; defining the directions of development and exercising control in the area:

• state environmental assessment;
• ensuring radiation safety;
• uses of atomic energy;
• addresses with waste;
• water relations;
• the relations connected with creation on the water bodies which are in federal property, the artificial land plots;
• security of hydraulic engineering constructions;
• fisheries and preserving of water biological resources;
• protection and use of objects of fauna;
• hunting and preserving of hunting resources;
• forest relations.
