2020: Creation of the platform for service robots

On December 14, 2020 the Perm National Research Polytechnical University (PNRPU) announced creation of the universal platform for service robots. It represents the device 50 x 50 x 24 cm and weighing 39 kg with sensors which allow the mechanism to move independently on the set trajectory.

According to developers, if necessary it is possible to manage the device using the panel at distance up to 10 meters. The platform works within 6-10 hours from one charge.

Affirms that the product is much cheaper than analogs and it is multifunction therefore it can be interesting to small business. Robots promoters, waiters or disinfectors with bacteriocidal lamps will help business effectively and to cheap service clients in any weather conditions. Having replaced the upper module of the platform, entrepreneurs will be able to adapt it for the necessary functions.

Unlike proposals of competitors, under specific objectives it will not be necessary to create the new robot. It is possible to add and improve constantly modules on the basis of already existing platform. Besides, our development can be used on the street in any weather conditions — the chief developer of the project Alexander Knyazev said.

By December 14, 2020 researchers received the first orders for deliveries of robots. About when the platform appears in the commercial market, it is not reported.

According to the state-of-the-art review of the world market of robotics of Sberbank Robotics Laboratory which are given by the Perm national research polytechnical university, volume world service robots will grow and by 2022 will be $88 million. Earlier in 2020 PNIPU started the program of an online magistracy which teaches design of independent service robots.[1]
