Woebot Health is the startup founded in 2017 by the teacher of psychology of Stanford University. The company develops the chat-bot for fight against a depression — it asks the user different questions of his health, desires, a physical status and so on, analyzes his mood and keeps track of possibility of a depression. Also the user can ask Woebot questions of how to affect the mood.

The service earns from a subscription — after two-three weeks of use of Woebot suggests users to pay the account to continue communication.

History

2020: Attraction of $4 million, including $1 million from SDVentures fund

As it became known in December, 2020, the venture fund with the Russian roots SDVentures invested $1 million in Woebot Health. Besides, $3 million provided to a startup NEA, AI fund and Jazz Ventures funds.

As told Inc. the founder of fund Dmitry Volkov, by December 22, 2020 the product Woebot passes clinical trials according to the results of which the chat-bot can get approval on release on the American market. When it occurs, a system will extend at first through insurance agencies and medical institutions, and then it will come to consumer segment.

The number of people with a depression grows, and psychologists do not become more. Besides, in the USA one session costs $200 — 400 and it is necessary to be engaged two times a week, and the monthly subscription to Woebot will cost no more than $70. And it means what during the acute crisis, the panic attack you have whom to address — Volkov noted.

According to him, the chat-bot Woebot not only can replace the psychologist and the psychiatrist, but also "make a revolution in psychology". Service is always available and is much cheaper, the investor emphasized.

Earlier Woebot attracted investments in the amount of $8 million during A Series round from AI Fund and New Enterprise Associates.[1]
