2021: Announcement of PET / KT-skanera Biograph Vision Quadra

At the beginning of January, 2021 the company Siemens Healthineers provided the positron emission tomography scanner / computer tomography (PET/KT) Biograph Vision Quadra developed for clinical use and also for scientific research.

In addition to technology of the silicon photo multiplier (SiPM) of 3.2 mm and the Time of Flight (ToF) function which are the main characteristics of PET / KT-skanerov the Biograph Vision series the Biograph Vision Quadra scanner has an expanded axial field of the overview of 106 cm - four times more, than axial a field of the overview of the previous Biograph Vision scanner. These technology features provide high sensitivity of the scanner and allow the doctor to receive pictures of all body of the patient in one provision.

With an expanded axial field of the overview of the scanner the doctor can also investigate change of anatomic characteristics of the patient in receptive period of radiopharmaceutical eventually. The combination of the detectors SiPM and an expanded axial field of the overview provides a bigger anatomic scope in one provision, than the PET/KT standard scanner that allows to carry out fast scanning at a low dose of radiation of the patient.

Biograph Vision Quadra is much more powerful, than modern modern clinical scanners, - the head of division of molecular visualization of Siemens Healthineers James Williams told. - This scanner will open new opportunities for visualization of difficult biological processes which will help scientists to reveal secrets of physiology and a pathophysiology.

Biograph Vision Quadra is rather compact by the size so it can be placed in the same premises, as the PET/KT traditional scanners, without selection of the additional areas, the producer notes.[1]
