2021: Start production of heated jacket

University students, ITMO founders, and a startup Warmr company - RedFox Russian a manufacturer of equipment for extreme sports and outdoor activities - launched a joint production of clothing with the function of controlled electronic heating. It was possible to give this property to clothes using printed. electronic engineers This was announced by ITMO on January 11, 2021.

The technology is based on the application of a special paste of functional polymers - fine graphite and carbon nanotubes to textiles. According to ITMO students, they managed to "introduce" electronics into the fabric as part of their work on their WARMR startup, which they are going to defend as a diploma at the end of their master's degree.

At first, they came up with the idea of making heated products for lovers of environmentally friendly transport - covers for bicycle seats, handles for scooters and prams. When everything turned out, the founders of WARMR presented their developments to industrial companies. The idea attracted the attention of market representatives for the production of equipment for extreme sports and outdoor activities - Red Fox. Together, they created an electronically heated jacket that retains heat for six hours even at extremely low temperatures - up to minus 70 ° C.

We started with jackets, because this is one of the most necessary things for residents and researchers of the Arctic region, as well as fans of extreme sports. You don't have to wear 10 sweaters under your outerwear anymore. The jacket will run from standard Power Bank, which will provide continuous heat generation for up to 6 hours without recharging. It can be washed without fear of spoiling. "Smart" Red Fox clothes will be functional, warm, light and, most importantly, convenient, "said Olavi Siikki, founder of WARMR, a graduate student in the Department of Technological Management and Innovation at ITMO University.

Our company has experience in creating professional equipment for extreme conditions, including for work in the Arctic region. By launching a line of smart clothing, we are taking another step towards innovative technologies. Our colleagues from ITMO are just beginning their journey in this market segment, and we want to help them. As experts in the field of printed electronics, WARMR will be responsible for the technological process, and we will take over the production part. I am sure that our cooperation will open up new opportunities for those who work in severe cold conditions and explore one of the special regions of the planet - the Arctic, "said Vladislav Moroz, director of Red Fox.
