GS Labs research and development center (Tsifra LLC, as a part of GS Group holding) announced on January 13, 2021 obtaining the patent for a method of cryptographic conversion and the device for its implementation, allowing to provide protection of bonus (FHD, UHD) content in real time

The method of cryptographic conversion (algorithm S17) developed by GS Labs represents expansion of the existing encryption algorithm AES. This technology is capable to replace foreign analogs, having provided thereby respect for technology sovereignty. The offered hardware-software implementation of additional cryptographic conversion allows to increase reliability of algorithms of protection of content with high bitrate due to complication (deceleration) of program implementation of decoding when preserving simple (fast) hardware implementation.

Enciphering of S17 is integrated into microprocessors and can be used in all household devices requiring the high level of safety of data transmission.

Means of cryptographic information protection are demanded at operators of a pay TV who use them for security of bonus content. It allows to buy and broadcast content from world studios without use of foreign products of enciphering and as a result excludes risks of sanctions influence. The technology is especially relevant for operators in whose financing the state within import substitution programs participates.

First of all this algorithm will be suggested to be used to the companies of telecom industry. Scaling of the project to other spheres where there is continuous data transmission, for example, in critical information infrastructure (the smart city) and financial technologies will become the next step.

With market development of digital services standard mathematical algorithms of data protection require permanent upgrade, increase in cryptostability and high-speed performance. Algorithm S17 is advanced continuation of mathematical algorithms and provides reliable protection of the channel of continuous data transmission.
