Rostelecom connected digital services for the Kochubeyevskaya VES

Rostelecom reported on January 20, 2021 about providing the powerful wind farm of Russia with digital communication services - the krayekochubeevsky wind power plant (WPP) located in Stavropol which was started at the end of 2020 and at once started electrical supplies to the wholesale market.

To connect the Kochubeyevskaya wind farm to the network infrastructure, Rostelecom technical specialists laid a fiber optic cable with a length of 10 km. The work was carried out in difficult conditions of hilly terrain at a depth of 1.5 meters with a transition through a high-pressure main gas pipeline. As a result, the national digital provider provided the power plant with Internet connection with a bandwidth of up to 200 Mbps and digital telephony. Communication will be used by power engineers to collect and transmit telemetry data from power plants within the M2M system to the station control room, as well as to coordinate the work of staff.

We are pleased with the cooperation with Rostelecom. The communication lines built for the wind station ensure stable operation of the equipment. This is our first, but not the last, joint project in the region. The WES construction program is being carried out at three more sites in the Stavropol Territory and the Rostov Region, "commented Dmitry Nikolin, head of the information technology department of NovaWind JSC.

Kochubeyevskaya wind farm is part of the structure of NovaWind (division Rosatom"" for the implementation of projects in) to wind power and consists of 84 electric generating wind plants with a capacity of 2.5 MW each as of January 2021. The planned annual average annual production of the station is 496.7 million kW/h.
