Kazatomprom together with SAS implemented the integrated schedule system

2020: Creation of the integrated schedule system

On January 25, 2021 it became known that within the Strategy of development for the Republic of Kazakhstan till 2050, the management of JSC National Atomic Company Kazatomprom made the decision to increase efficiency of the operating activities using digital technologies. The company is interested in that more productively and in coordination to distribute resources, to find methods of expense optimization and production costs, to improve indicators of achievement of goals and to increase efficiency of affiliated enterprises.

In particular, to create business plans with different scenarios of development of the company in a short time with the minimum error, Kazatomprom needed the tool which would consider all factors influencing strategic development of the company, including macroeconomic indicators, an external situation, inflation, currency rates, demand for uranium and others.

Creation of the integrated schedule system (ISS) meant individual approach and development of the solutions considering features of business of the company. The project was entrusted the SAS company having necessary examination and experience in development and deployment of such scale of software solutions and the analytical systems.

At the first stage of the project a system was implemented at four mining enterprises. It was necessary to create model which will consider data, procedures and features of processes of different divisions – from marketing to finance and to estimate quality of planning at such approach.

After implementation of the first stage, thanks to ISP, the following results were received:

  • formation of the approved target indicators of a company performance for a year and more;
  • creation of the optimal production program and target business plan;
  • an opportunity to carry out the scenario analysis of complex production and financial model of the enterprise;
  • an opportunity to analyze actual data and to carry out the scenario analysis of further actions at a stage of accomplishment of the plan.

Implementation of ISP in activity of Kazatomprom yielded the following results:

  • terms of consolidation of business plans from 10 days were reduced to 1 day;
  • accuracy of drawing up business plans due to integration with the operating accounting systems of the Company increased;
  • adjustments manually are minimized;
  • planning of production programs for the medium-term period is performed in more detail.

Having estimated the solution, the management of Kazatomprom decided to replicate a system on two affiliated enterprises. In 2021 Kazatomprom expects to continue its replication at the enterprises by improvement of the put functionality of a system.
