According to him, it is planned to purchase 4.2 million doses of the Sputnik V vaccine. The Honduran leader did not disclose other details of the agreement.

The Honduran Health Regulatory Agency registered the Sputnik V vaccine in February 2021. The drug received approval as part of an accelerated procedure. At that time, Honduras was the 34-country in which the Russian vaccine COVID-19 was registered. By March 10, the number of states increased to 48.

As of March 9, 2021, more than 174.5 thousand cases of coronavirus infection were registered in Honduras, including 265 over the past day. 4,297 people died from this infection, including 14 infected over the past day. Vaccination is already being carried out in the country - by the end of February 2021, about 2700 vaccinations were made.

Earlier, the Honduran Ministry of Health ordered about 1.4 million doses of the vaccine produced by AstraZeneca. Sputnik V was the second drug to create immunity to COVID-19, which is purchased by the country. In February 2021, Honduran Foreign Minister Lisandro Rosales spoke about the country's plans to purchase 70 thousand doses of Sputnik V.

Honduras was also donated about 5 thousand doses of the Moderna vaccine, intended for medical personnel. This shipment was delivered from Israel, which shares surplus drugs with some countries.[1][2]
