2021: Announcement of Roche Accu-Chek Instant - glucose monitoring systems with connection to the smartphone
In mid-March 2021, Roche released a new Accu-Chek Instant blood glucose monitoring system with a smartphone connection. In doing so, Roche provides tools for an integrated personalized approach to diabetes mellitus management that aims to personalize treatment with improved clinical outcomes.
The new approach should improve care delivery, facilitate communication between patients and the physician, and integrate tools for visualization and data analysis. Accu-Chek Instant supports Bluetooth connectivity to the mySugr application, which quickly analyzes user data and offers a number of other diabetes management features, such as the insulin calculator.
Data from the mobile application mySugr can also be easily transmitted to the attending physician via the RocheDiabetes Care Platform (RDCP) almost in real time. Integration between RDCP and the mySugr application allows healthcare professionals to view monitoring data during consultations and consider it when correcting therapy or patient behavioral patterns.
The Accu-Chek Instant glucometer also offers a simple testing method with an intuitive target range indicator. A read-only display with large text and simple navigation makes it easier to read data, and test results outside the allowable range activate a flashing indicator.
Accu-Chek Instant will appear on the market in the UK from April 1, 2021, and the costs of its acquisition will be partially reimbursed by insurance organizations. The Accu-Chek Instant glucometer meets the accuracy standards ISO 15197: 2013/EN ISO 15197:2015 with an analytical accuracy of 10/10.[1]
