2021: Start of development of the Digital Valley project in Chechnya

March 22, 2021 it became known about the plans of the Chechen authorities to create a "Digital Valley" in the region. As part of this project, it is planned to organize mass production of high-tech products and develop Grozny as a smart city.

According to TASS, citing the development strategy of Chechnya, "the focus will be on the digital transformation of the republic, and the key growth points will be the development of blockchain in the public sector and the development of innovative technologies in the agro-industrial complex and construction." In addition, according to the document, international IT education and the construction of IT infrastructure of regional importance will develop in Chechnya.

Formidable will develop in the concept of a smart city using digital management of urban economy and intelligent transport systems. Prerequisites will be formed for the implementation of a technological breakthrough through the introduction of new generation products, including by attracting external expertise from the countries of the Middle East and India, the document says.

The growth of the "Digital Economy" of the Chechen Republic is planned to be ensured through the export of digital products and services, the development of a regional competence center, as well as infrastructure operating throughout the North Caucasus.

The sources of funding for sector development initiatives in the region will be the federal program "Digital Economy," funds from development banks, digital transformation partners and foreign funds, including the Abu Dhabi Development Fund.

According to the authors of the initiative, the share of the IT sector in the GRP structure will be more than 10%, the share of employees in the industry - 4%, the share of products of IT companies in the export structure will reach 1.5%, more than 1,000 IT startups will be launched, the coverage of the region with broadband Internet will be 100%.[1]
