2021: In eight months, Moscow pharmaceutical and medical exports almost quadrupled to $819.39 million
The total export of pharmaceutical products medical and equipment in the first eight months of 2021 year amounted to 819.39 million. Compared to the dollars same period in 2019, the volume of deliveries increased almost 4 times. This was announced on November 16, 2021 by the Deputy Mayor for Moscow Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations Vladimir Efimov.
Moscow is the center of the pharmaceutical industry in Russia and the exporter of products in this sector. So, the capital accounts for about 40% of the supply of medical equipment and a little more than 52% - pharmaceutical products. The total export of these two areas increased from $207.11 million in the eight months of 2019 to $819.39 million in January-August 2021, the deputy mayor said. |
According to Vladimir Efimov, in 2021 Moscow delivered products to 114, countries expanding the geography of supplies to 17 countries compared to 2020. According to the results of 8 months of 2021, Moscow exports of medical products amounted to slightly more than 69 million dollars, which is 39% more than the same period in 2020 and 32% more than in 2019. The head of the Department added that during the same period, Moscow exports of pharmaceutical products amounted to over $750 million, which is three and a half and almost five times more than in similar periods of 2020 and 2019, respectively. The volume of pharmaceutical exports was increased both by increasing the supply of various types of vaccines and by developing the export of other pharmaceutical products, in particular packaged drugs and immunological products.
2020: Exports of medical products from Moscow grew by 23.5% to $83 million
In 2020, Moscow exported medical products worth more than $83 million, which is 23.5% higher than a year ago. This is evidenced by the data of the Center for Export Support and Development "Mosprom."
Manufactured To Moscow in medical products in 2020 were supplied to 60 countries. Most of all, such products were purchased (Kazakhstan $28.38 million), (Belarus $23.66 million) and (Ukraine $6.95 million). The five importers also included Latvia ($3.28 million) and (China $2.71 million).
It is noted that Moscow supplies bandages and patches, cotton wool and products from it, personal hygiene products to other countries. Imports of such medical products to Moscow in 2020 decreased by 0.9% (from $703.87 million to $679.22 million).
Exports of medical products from Moscow are growing faster than all-Russian. According to the Mosprom Export Support and Development Center, the volume of Russian exports in 2020 increased by only 5.8%.
According to the Russian Export Center, citing the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation, drug exports from Moscow grew by 58%, and antibiotic supplies increased by 84%. In the medical equipment segment, deliveries of medical products for electrophoresis (almost 3 times), therapeutic breathing equipment (3.3 times), diagnostic reagents (2.2 times), gas masks and breathing equipment (93%, or 1.9 times) have multiplied.
The leaders in export volumes were radiodiagnostic equipment produced in Moscow, defibrillators, blood transfusion equipment, electronic thermostats, pressure gauges and dental devices. Among the major exporters of these products are the Moscow companies Aktübrengten, Amiko, Bioss and S.P. Gelpik, specializing in the production of X-ray diagnostic equipment and defibrillators.[1]
