2021: Network Perimeter Protection System Scaling

Spectrasoft modernized and scaled the network perimeter protection system for CJSC Euroservice Firm. As a result of the project, the system is self-contained. Addressed issue of queues on mail servers. This was announced on March 25, 2021 by Aksoft (Axoft).

To recognize and block various ransomware scripts, suspicious hyperlinks in the archives or in the body of the letter, the customer used the Check Point sandbox mechanism. The product did a good job. But due to an incorrectly configured verification algorithm, the system collected large queues of letters between the mail server and Check Point. Letters from users to subsidiaries could "hang" for several hours if the administrator did not manually start the queue on the mail server. In this regard, the task was to modernize and scale the system. To solve it, the customer contacted Spectrasoft.

At the first stage of the project, the main algorithms for checking mail, monitoring users, protecting servers, VPN traffic, etc. were worked out. On the second, a diagram of the physical and virtual cluster Check Point has been developed, which allows you to seamlessly update, turn off, and overload the system. The task of implementing Check Point in two subsidiaries with a different Internet connection and other IP addresses was performed in parallel with the solution of issues of functioning and additional protection. During the third stage, another one, Platform Check Point 5200, was attached to the existing physical node of Check Point. Next, you configured a physical connection to the equipment (before that, testing was carried out using a VLAN).

As a result of the project, network perimeter protection against various threats is provided by two nodes in the cluster, which is managed through a common virtual administrative panel, using log storage. The solution at both the customer and its two subsidiaries works smoothly. The main task - to ensure the autonomous operation of the system - was implemented in full. The problem of queues on mail servers has been fixed.

The main complexity of the project is the need to rebuild the network during the continuous operation of the office and branches. We are pleased that we have managed to resolve this issue. The system works almost autonomously, does not require intervention.
